SARRITA HUNN with COSIGN PROJECTS @ Sweet Jesus
This exciting collaboration between several St. Louis artists brings a unique contemporary art exhibition to LEMP BREWERY in South City, Cosign's own neighborhood! Titled Sweet Jesus, and including over 15 local and nationl artists working in a variety of media, this exhibition will occur on November 19-20, 2010. Cosign Projects is working with Sarrita Hunn to bring you STATIC BANNERS.

Using video static (a visual of result of non-information) as a starting point, the pieces are multiple translations in analog and digital forms. The resulting paintings, sculptures prints and video speak to this process of visual mediation.
Static_banners were created by digitally photographing video static and mining the file for information. Each image in Static_banners was a small set of pixels found in this image file and enlarged to the size of a street pole banner. While the images are totally abstract, they do invoke familiar logos and iconography. The black and white background are evidence of the static source imagery.
A surprising result of the printing process brought this project full circle. In each of the gray areas of the print all colors of the printing spectrum are present, creating more visual static.
